A crisis in one’s life is characterised by intense emotions brought about with the impending feeling that a person needs to make a difficult decision- and fast. If you’re in your 20s or 30s and experience the below, then it is likely you’re experiencing a quarter-life crisis.
The transition from college to the first and subsequent workplace is difficult, and you find yourself looking back at the “good old days.” Your job is dull and boring. Where you were once bright-eyed, full of dreams and goals, you wanted to attain after school now dwells doubt, uncertainty coupled with anxiety. You’re not sure what you want or should do, only that you don’t want to do what you currently are anymore.
You have been frustrated at the seeming lack of purpose in your life. You know life should hold meaning, but you don’t know what that is. With that comes the feeling of being an imposter and the sinking feeling that you’re not good enough. Everything seems to be an act of keeping up appearances and where everyone seems to be doing better than you all around.
You’ve lost your identity and are dissatisfied in your relationships, finances, and accomplishments. Even with loves ones around you, there is a deep sense of loneliness and that people don’t or won’t understand you. Most of all, when you have what you thought you wanted, there’s the depressing thought of “Is this it?!”
